Chris Bobrowski is a tenured faculty member at the College of San Mateo and the coordinator for the Electronic Music Program. She holds a B.A. with honors in Music and Computer Science from Dartmouth College and an M.F.A. in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College. Bobrowski has guest lectured at a number of colleges and universities including San Francisco State, the San Francisco Art Institute and the California College of the Arts.
In addition to teaching, she composes acoustic and electronic pieces, plays French horn and performs on instruments of her own design. Her work has been presented in a number of festivals including: the Maker Faire, San Mateo, 2008/2006, the Listening Series at the Exploratorium, San Francisco, 2005, the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, 2004, the Metronom Music Festival, Barcelona, Spain, 2003, the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, New York City, 2003 and the Ex Teresa Arte Actual Sound Art Festival, Mexico City, 2000. She has performed and recorded with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, the Cecil Taylor Improvisation Orchestra, Anthony Braxton, Lou Harrison, Christian Wolff, Larry Polansky and the improvisation ensemble Vorticella. Bobrowski and her work were featured in the article Electric Ladyland, Electronic Musician Magazine, 2001. She was a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, 1997-98, and an Artist In Residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts, Marin, CA, 1994. Her scores are published by Frog Peak Music.
