Calories
A calorie is a measure of the amount of energy in a substance. A calorie is a small unit and nutritionists agreed to use the kilocalorie (1000 calories) as their standard. The Calories listed on a food label are actually kilocalories and indicate the energy available for your cells when they metabolize that food. The Recommended Daily Value (RDV) for most adults is 2000 Calories.

Several snack packages come close to 25% of the RDV for calories (based on a 2000 calorie diet). Read the labels carefully, one serving of Cheeto's Crunchy Flammin/Hot chips contains 170 calories, but the package contains nearly 3 servings!
