Fats
Fats are necessary for synthesizing cell membranes, making certain
hormones, and the transport fat soluble vitamins. Animals can synthesize
most of the fatty acids they need. The essential fatty acids, the
ones you cannot make, are unsaturated fatty acids. Most diets furnish
ample quantities of essential fatty acids. The Recommended Daily
Value (RDV) for total fats on a 2000 calorie diet is 65 grams. Note
that several vending machine snacks exceed 20% (and a few approach
50%) of your RDV which doesn't leave much room for meat and dairy
products in the rest of the day.
Peanuts
are high in fat but contain no cholesterol or trans fats, additionally
one servng of peanuts provides 28% of daily protein.
