LSCI 106: ONLINE RESEARCH 1: INTRODUCTION TO ONLINE RESEARCH
Student Project Model
RESEARCH QUESTION:
How can I obtain information on traveling to Havana, Cuba?
Since 1962, United states launched
an embargo against Cuba. Despite massive Soviet aid, the Cuban economy was in
ruins, and the country's plight worsened in 1989 when Russia withdrew its aid
as Eastern Europe collapsed. With over 40 years of hardship they still managed
to retain their culture and make the best of it. I am fascinated on how the
culture stayed together and as a one-party communist state, everyone is offered
free education and medical services. I was told that it was a great place to
visit with the exciment of the Cuban culture, Art, Food and the beautiful
waters surrounding the island.
As an American, it’s illegal to travel to Cuba as a tourist due to the embargo. Many americans every year enter to Cuba through other countries as a tourist and are very welcomed by the Cuban nation. My goal is to research the most I can by the web to find how to enter and make my visit the most enjoyable.

This site is
called The Latin American Network Information Center , it's a useful
site built by students at the University of Texas for people that has interest
in traveling in latin america. It is a useful site and very easy to use, it
basically has a broad range of sites and resources of what your looking for. I
find this site very reliable because one night a few months ago I spent more
that three hours using google trying to filter out websites about Cuba, when "lanic"
did all the work for me on one page, with all the same content when I searched
for hours.
LANIC's mission is to facilitate access to Internet-based information
