$20,000 UC Santa Cruz Scholarship Opportunity
Applications for the 2006-07 Karl S. Pister Leadership Opportunity Program are now available from the Counseling Center. This is a $20,000 scholarship given to one student from who will be transferring to UC Santa Cruz in Fall 2006.

Completed application packets must be submitted to the
Counseling Center by 4:30 p.m. January 27, 2006. From those who complete the process on time, the President's Office may nominate up to three candidates for the award. Final selection is made by the Chancellor of UC Santa Cruz.
Student Criteria:
• Exceptional achievement both academically and in extracurricular activities despite adverse socioeconomic conditions, demonstrated involvement in activities that assists and improves the lives of others, demonstrated outstanding leadership,
• Demonstrated financial need that indicates student would otherwise be unable to attend UCSC (Applicants MUST apply for Federal Financial Aid, FAFSA – as early as January 1, 2006 but no later than March 2, 2006 and be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen).

Silicon Valley Engineering Scholarships
$22,000 scholarship offered by SJSU College of Engineering.
DEADLINE: MARCH 3, 2006
-Apply for upper-division admission to SJSU with a major in Engineering to www.csumentor.edu
-Submit an on-line application (view link) between Nov. 1, 2005 and Mar. 3, 2006
-Mail an official community college transcript postmarked no later than Mar. 3, 2006. see website for address.
-Be available to attend an on-campus interview/information meeting on Mar 25, 2006 from 8am to noon if selected as a semi-finalist.

- Be of Latino heritage or member of an underrepresented minority group.
- Be a college student, or a high school student planning to attend college after graduation. Special
consideration will be given to students from the urban San Jose area.
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
