    PHIL 160: History of Ancient Philosophy

Course Description:

This course presents a historical and critical survey of Western philosophy from the time of the Pre-Socratics (500 BCE) to the end of the Classical period and into the Medieval period. We will read primary sources and contemporary interpretation of Plato and Aristotle, as well as Epicureans, Stoics, and Skeptics. We will also study the work of influential Christian philosophers, including Augustine, Anselm, and Aquinas.

Recommended: eligibility for ENGL 100 or 105
