The Sky Tonight
We will continue our 2nd Friday of the month show "The Sky Tonight" on September 12, 7:30 pm., with a second show at 8:20 pm. Join us as Professor Stanford presents stars, constellations, and planets on the dome.

Also, the SMCAS monthly speaker series continues in the planetarium on Friday, September 5. College of San Mateo and the San Mateo County Astronomical Society frequently host events together at CSM's planetarium.

Planetarium System
CSM has re-established America's first HYBRID planetarium and the world's 1st GOTO-CHRONOS HYBRID planetarium. The system consists of the GOTO CHRONOS opto-mechanical space simulator from GOTO Optical Mfg.Co  and dual Digistar 3 SP2 HD projectors from Evans & Sutherland.

The Chronos shows over 8000 stars to 6th magnitude, 26 deep sky objects, and the Milky Way! The D3 projectors, in conjunction with Spitz ATM4, Theatre Automation System, present all-dome, surround sound videos, planet fly-bys, and Messier objects.

Project Star Gaze
We have also restarted "Project Star Gaze" program for kids and teachers, in the planetarium.
These shows give school children an exciting introduction to astronomy. For details click here.
