| You may have heard that the
College of San Mateo had an outstanding 2005 season and finished
with a record of 8-3. You also may have heard the Bulldogs were
ranked 9th in the nation, but have you heard that there were TWO
ALL-AMERICANS, THREE ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS, ONE ALL-STATE, and
the NOR CAL Conference MVP. James Tretheway OL, El Camino, was
both an All-American on the field and an Academic All-American
in the classroom (3.71). Alex Reyes OL, Santa Clara, was and All-American,
and Landon Laurusaitis OL, San Mateo was an Academic All-American
(3.52). Andrew Havili OL, Burlingame was an Academic All-American
(3.31), while Julian Edelman QB, Woodside, was All-State and the
Nor Cal Conference MVP.
The PAC10, Conference USA, the WAC, and the Big West conferences
all recognized these outstanding athletes at CSM, by offering
scholarships at midyear. James Tretheway OL, signed with the University
of Arizona. Alex Reyes OL, has been offered a scholarship from
Marshall University. David Lomu, DL signed with San Jose State
University. Landon Laurusaitis OL and Andrew Havili OL, were signed
by Portland State
University. Ryan Higgins WR, signed with Southern Utah, and there
definitely will be more to come as the year progresses.
