Unparalleled Success in the Classroom
CSM Football

It is very important to know that the success experienced by the College of San Mateo Football team on the field is equaled in the classroom. The coaches at the College of San Mateo firmly believe that each and every young man that enters the program is a student/athlete. This brings with high expectations of academic performance. The success lies in a combination of structure provided by the coaches and hard work supplied by the players. The coaches focus on the following:

  1. Daily Attendance Checks to make sure that the young men are going to class.
  2. Teaching of an academic skills course (Academic Gameplan)
  3. Performing the role of Academic Advisors.

The key factors that are used to measure academic success are:

  1. Course Completion Percentage
  2. Grade Point Average
  3. Percentage of players that graduate, receive a degree, or transfer to a 4 year university.

Course Completion Percentage
This figure shows what percentage of the classes that the student registered for were passed with a C or better. All failures and withdrawals count negatively. For the past 9 semesters, CSM football players have completed as a group over 90% of the classes. This means that 90% and above of the classes registered were passed with a grade of C or better. The bottom line is that you cannot pass courses unless you complete them with a passing grade. Football players at CSM are doing just that.

Grade Point Average
Over the past 9 semesters, CSM football players have a cumulative overall grade point average of 3.02. This is a B average for every class passed!!! Not only are the players completing 90% of the courses they take, they are passing with quality marks.

Matriculation
87% of all CSM football players will graduate, receive an AA degree, or transfer to a 4 year university. The coaches at the College of San Mateo believe firmly in helping the student/athletes prepare for their future and will work tirelessly to help them find the 4 year institution that best fits their academic and athletic needs.

The College of San Mateo football program believes in developing football players who pass courses with quality marks and move on to 4 year institutions. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!
