The College of San Mateo unveiled its $8.5 million athletic complex. The facility includes a Field Turf football field complete with brand new press box and stands, baseball field, track, and tennis courts.
In addition, there are plans to remodel the weight training facility, athletic training rooms, meeting rooms, and locker rooms.
The timing of the facility could not have come at a better time as the football team finished the 2005 campaign ranked #13 in the nation. Now that the College of San Mateo has established itself as one of the top teams in the state with a 40-15 record over the past five years, the facilities are without a doubt the best in junior college football.
“This project would not have been performed if it were not for the support of Chancellor Ron Galatolo”, said an elated Head Coach Larry Owens. “This allows the players from our community to compete against the highest level of competition in a first class environment."
