Bulldog Transfer Success
CSM Football

The overall philosophy of the CSM football program is to develop each and every member into a better student, a better athlete, and a better football player so that they may continue their academic and athletic careers after the College of San Mateo. Reliance on solid principles such as hard work, respect, accountability, sacrifice and dedication helps each and every young man achieve success not only at CSM but also prepares him for future success at 4 year schools.

Over the past 5 years, over 90% of the football players have either received their AA degree or transferred to a 4 year institution. The program has averaged 13 players a year receiving athletic scholarships which totals in excess of $500,000 a year in aid.

From an athletic standpoint, players have transferred to every major conference in college football – Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, Big East, SEC, and ACC. The coaches and staff work just as hard to place players at Division IAA, Division II, Division III, and NAIA programs. Regardless of the player’s level of talent, the coaches will work tirelessly to try and find an environment where our players can continue playing football while pursuing greater academic goals.

An even more impressive statistic is that over 75% of the student athletes that transfer on ultimately receive a bachelors degree from the 4 year school. This shows that their experience at CSM was not only a memorable one but was effective in preparing them for their future.
