1. What are College Reserves?
College Reserves are books and other items that are in high demand by students. Items in the Reserves collection have limited borrowing times to make it possible for more students to use the materials.

  • Supplementary books
  • Study guides
  • Telecourse Videos
  • Sample quizzes and exams
  • Solution manuals
  • Practice Software
  • Assorted Media including CD’s and DVD’s
  • Journal & Magazine articles

3. Does the Library have the books for my class?
Generally the Library only has what instructors have brought over for their students.
• The CSM Library does not have all text books or other materials for all classes.

• If the book you need is not on reserve, please check with your instructor.

4. How can I find out if items for my class are On Reserve?
• Go to the library web page and look for College Reserves.
• Ask your instructor if they have placed items on reserve.
• You can search for reserves by the course name or the instructor’s name.
• Ask for reserve items at the Library Loan/Circulation Desk.

5. How long can I check out items that are in College Reserves?
• Rules for borrowing materials on reserve are generally set by the course instructor.
• Borrowing limits range from 2hr Library Use Only up to 1 week.
• Reserve items frequently have much higher late fees than items in the circulating collection.

• Reserve materials are first come, first serve. Holds are not permitted for items that are on reserve.

You must present your CSM or Peninsula Library System library card to use ANY materials located in the College Reserves Collection.
