Building Time Schedules

Building open and close times have been scheduled to ensure that the facilities are available when needed.  There's much more to a building's time schedule than just unlocking the doors.  The heating, ventilation and air conditioning system has to start with enough time before the building is occupied so occupants will be comfortable from the moment they enter the building.  Lights need to be turned on before the building is open to ensure a safe environment. Only after these steps happen can a building can be unlocked for public access.

We have two different ways of opening and closing buildings: Manual and Automatic locking and unlocking.

Manual Lock and Unlock

• District Employees (security, custodians, engineers, faculty or staff) use keys to unlock doors at the beginning of the day and to lock them at the end of the day.

Automated Lock and Unlock

• ACAMS (Access Control and Alarm Monitoring System) electronically locks and unlocks doors on a programmed schedule.
