BUILDINGS 1, 5 & 6 – ADMINISTRATION & STUDENT SERVICES

Funding Source(s):   Measure C general obligation bond funds, State Capital Outlay funds (Propositions 47 and 55), District Bookstore and Food Services funds

 

Description: Buildings 1, 5 and 6 will be renovated in order to consolidate Student Services in a centralized facility near the entrance to campus, convenient to students, faculty, staff and visitors.  Once complete, the buildings will house Student Services, College Administration and related offices, the Bookstore, Student Activities, Student Government, and Food Services. Various spaces within these buildings will be available for College and community events and conferences.  A Fitness Center will be located at Building 6’s ground level, adjacent to the aquatic center and close to the Building 8 Gymnasium. 

Benefits: This project will consolidate Student Services into a One-Stop-Shop at the front door to the campus.  Building 6 will receive a seismic retrofit of exposed brace framing.  All three buildings will be modernized and brought up to current accessibility, building, mechanical, electrical, fire and plumbing code compliance, as well as new furniture, fixtures and equipment.
