Districtwide Access Controls – Phase II

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Installation of Electronic Access Controls at the District Office

Doors locks are being replaced on those doors that will be operated by electronic key (ekey) in the future. The new locks can be “electrified” and will work in conjunction with the new ekey system. 

For the next few weeks, temporary keys (that will be or have been distributed) must be used to unlock/lock any door with a new lock (recognizable by the card key reader and the new door hardware [new handles, push bars, etc.])

May 8 through June 1, 2006

PHASE II IMPACT:

Noise: Changing the door hardware requires drilling and some hammering. This is fairly noisy. However, the noisy portion of the work will only occur for between 5-20 minutes at each door.

Access: The front doors and lobby doors will remain unlocked during office hours. The back doors to the District Office will remain locked until the ekeys are distributed in a few weeks. Without a temporary key, access to the building is through the front doors.

After Hours Access: Individuals who have a temporary key and an alarm code will be able to access the building after hours.

As always, the Contractors have been informed of the need to minimize impacts on the business operations of the District Office and to clean their work areas prior to leaving. Please exercise caution around all construction areas.
