Bio

I grew up mainly in Maryland around Washington DC. I first came to California at the age of 18 to attend UC Berkeley.

I got involved in community college mathematics as a tutor at De Anza College. First I was a special education tutor (a very hard job and great training). Then I was the Math/Science supervisor in the De Anza tutorial center for a while.

The tutoring led naturally to a career as a math professor. (But there have been periods when I have taught computer programming as well.)

I am interested in teaching innovations, technology as an instructional tool, and new curricula. I'm also one of the faculty people involved in making the AMATYC Math League happen at CSM. I still find math to be very enjoyable and teaching to be challenging and fun.
