This information is for faculty and staff that currently
have District paid PacBell/Prodigy Internet accounts.
As of
May 30, 2003, the District will no longer be offering paid
PacBell/ProdigyInternet and eMail accounts to faculty and staff.
Why?
Internet access has
become an integral part of most college employee jobs. With the recent
introduction of WebSMART (class information, final grades, vacation
balance, etc.) the District wanted to provide convenient home access to the
Internet and email to all employees, full-time and part-time faculty,
classified staff and administration.
The cost of the
District supported PacBell/Prodigy accounts for all employees was
prohibitive. Therefore, our District has implemented its own ISP service
for all employees. The annual cost of providing Internet access to all
District employees is approximately 1/3 the amount currently being paid to
support 90+ faculty PacBell/Prodigy accounts.
