My name is Melissa Adams, although I prefer to be called Leisa. For the last five years I have been working at UCSF in a lab that conducts research with prions and their related diseases. In this time period I have taken my prerequisites for the nursing program, 1-2 classes at a time, in the evenings.

A neurologist that I worked with introduced me to Respiratory Therapy this last year and recommended it. I liked that it was similar to nursing, yet more specialized.  I felt that I had found my niche, and enrolled in the program.
