After graduating from Mercy High School San Francisco in 2003, I attended San Jose State University. But due to financial difficulties and a death in the family I decided to move back home and continue my studies at Skyline College.
Healthcare appeals to me because I have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives and help patients feel better, not to mention the high job placement and great salaries. Everyone I know is pursuing Nursing, so I decided to take the path less traveled and pursue Respiratory Therapy. And now I’m currently in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Skyline College.
At a community college level, not only is this program more affordable than universities but also has skilled and experienced instructors and provides a wide variety of clinical sites around the Bay Area where we will be gaining hands-on experience in our hospital rotations. I’d recommend the program to anyone who is compassionate, knowledgeable and wants a stable career in health care.
