Jazz Trumpeter, composer and arranger I’m a native of Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia where my professional career as a jazz trumpet player has started. Soon after graduating from State Conservatory of Music I joined Georgian state TV Orchestra as a soloist and toured Poland, Germany, Japan and Philippines with Georgian state TV jazz combo. It was around that time when I joined well-known British piano player and composer Keith Tippet and his London based band for a number of concerts in England including world famous Bath Music Festival in Bath, England.
In 1989 I moved to Montreal, Canada and stayed busy ever since performing locally and internationally with various bands as a leader and a sideman. Following year I received a full scholarship to do a graduate degree at McGill University in Montréal. As a McGill University Jazz Ensemble I soloist I performed at the IAJE conferences in Boston, New York and Banf, Alberta. Soon after graduating from McGill University with a Master’s degree in Music I was chosen to participate in Lake Placid, N.Y. International jazz seminar where I studied and performed with legendary Bob Brookmeyer, Jim Mcneely, Peter Erskine, Gary Peacock and Maria Schneider.
As a Concéil des Art et de Léttres du Quebec grant recipient I also had a privilege to study with renowned jazz trumpet masters such as: Tim Hagans, Laurie Frink and John McNeil. My professional experience also includes numerous performances at Saarbrücken Jazz Festival, Germany, world famous Féstival Intérnational de Jazz de Montréal, New York’s prestigious jazz clubs such as: “Supper Club” and “Swing 46”,3 month contract in “Starlight Bar” in Sheraton Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, “Body & Soul” jazz club in Tokyo, Japan and etc.
In 2004 I moved to San Francisco and have already established myself on the local music scene. My playing has been heard in popular San Francisco jazz spots such as: Dylan’s Pub, Bistro Yoffi, Dog Patch Saloon, Shanghai 1930 etc. Recent performances as a band leader include such clubs as: Bruno’s, Rasselas Jazz and“Shanghai 1930”.
In 2005 I decided to focus on Respiratory Therapy carrier. Two years later, after completing the science prerequisites and the AS degree requirements I got accepted in to the RT program. I am looking forward to interesting and productive two years in the program.
