Biography
After leaving graduate school in 1967, Prof. Kennedy began his teaching career at the College of San Mateo. The following year he was part of the founding faculty that opened Canada College in Redwood City. In 1979, Prof. Kennedy was appointed Assistant Director of Educational Information Services and served in that capacity for three years before returning to teaching at the College of San Mateo. He has been a Professor of Political Science since that time and served as Senate President on several occasions. Because of a strong interest in environmental issues, Prof. Kennedy began to offer the environmental policy class, "RACE TO SAVE THE PLANET". With this continuing interest in technology, the environment and public policy, Professor Kennedy was awarded a small research grant from Ames Research Center in Mountain View. The following year (1995) Professor Kennedy and a colleague applied for and were granted support for a three year program to develop a major emphasizing remote sensing applications and careers in the earth and environmental sciences. Professor Kennedy was also a founding member of the Manzanita Learning Community which brings computers to an effort to integrate several fields.

Professor Kennedy is married to U.C. Berkeley researcher Cathleen Kennedy with whom he shares an interest in computers and educational reform. He has long standing hobbies in the area of orchid cultivation, fiction writing and tropical fish, having owned and operated a tropical fish store in the 1970's. He enjoys european travel and has taught political science in London in 1985 and 1991.
