[Message #1]
Chochi Santos:
Hello.

[Message #2]
Alex Daugherty:
hey

[Message #3]
Alex Daugherty:
what did you do for homework?

[Message #4]
Chochi Santos:
The same stuff as everyone else.

[Message #5]
Alex Daugherty:
no, i mean, which cultural text?

[Message #6]
Chochi Santos:
What did you do?

[Message #7]
Chochi Santos:
Have you started on the essay?

[Message #8]
Alex Daugherty:
i didnt do it, i was just wondering what you thought about the society now vs. texts thing.

[Message #9]
Alex Daugherty:
i didnot start the essay

[Message #10]
Alex Daugherty:
did you?

[Message #11]
Chochi Santos:
Society has changed, but not completely.

[Message #12]
Alex Daugherty:
that is what i think.

[Message #13]
Chochi Santos:
All the ideals from the past are still here today, only they're expressed passively now.

[Message #14]
Alex Daugherty:
i agree, the themes are less overt today, but pretty much the same.

[Message #15]
Alex Daugherty:
are you doing the second or first essay topic?

[Message #16]
Chochi Santos:
I haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning toward the second one.

[Message #17]
Alex Daugherty:
it seemed to me that that one you would have to read into more. the ideas are not as obvious in the reading.

[Message #18]
Chochi Santos:
Yeah, but I'd rather have more to write about than less. I always end up writing too little or not having enough info.

[Message #19]
Alex Daugherty:
so, what do you think the texts say about society, in relation to classes?

[Message #20]
Chochi Santos:
What do you mean?

[Message #21]
Alex Daugherty:
i mean for the second topic, what do the texts say about social classes.

[Message #22]
Chochi Santos:
Well, the texts we read were about things from a long time ago, which were written a long time ago, but the mags I read were about classes today.

[Message #23]
Alex Daugherty:
okay, so what themes do you think are still stressed in western culture?

[Message #24]
Chochi Santos:
The man should be the leader of the relationship. Both male and female magazines believe this.

[Message #25]
Chochi Santos:
Male magazines tell men how to lead while female magazines tell them how to follow.

[Message #26]
Alex Daugherty:
that has been true since men started hunt, and all that. it is true in a sense with other species even. that is, if you think leader means provider.
i dont neccesarily think that men are in charge of relationships, they are not even in charge in any of the texts we read.

[Message #27]
Alex Daugherty:
the men seem as though they are just there, and the woman has to struggle through strife to win him.

[Message #28]
Chochi Santos:
Actually, they are. Even when they don't mean to lead, the females end up serving and following them.

[Message #29]
Alex Daugherty:
just because they are following them, does not mean that they are not in charge, it seems that by following them, they have more power over the relationship.

[Message #30]
Chochi Santos:
Yeah, i agree.

[Message #31]
Alex Daugherty:
so what do you think about economic class as represented in the stories?

[Message #32]
Chochi Santos:
It seems like rich people are shown to be jerks.

[Message #33]
Alex Daugherty:
how?the father of psyche is a king, and he is not shown negatively.

[Message #34]
Alex Daugherty:
and the other families are wealthy, but are not shown negatively.

[Message #35]
Chochi Santos:
Oh really?

[Message #36]
Chochi Santos:
LOL

[Message #37]
Chochi Santos:
I don't remember that part.

[Message #38]
Chochi Santos:
Aren't the gods in a social class?

[Message #39]
Alex Daugherty:
yeah. the only poor sort of person is beautys family, but only for a bit, and then after they meet beast they have all that gold or whatever.

[Message #40]
Alex Daugherty:
i guess the gods are at the highest social class.

[Message #41]
Alex Daugherty:
but they do not participate in economic classes, so i think they are excluded.

[Message #42]
Chochi Santos:
And Beauty's sisters were arrogant jerks when they were rich.

[Message #43]
Chochi Santos:
Then when they became poor, people thought that they got what they diserved.

[Message #44]
Chochi Santos:
Except for Beauty, because her kindness transended all social classes.

[Message #45]
Alex Daugherty:
they were cruel though, i think that is a product of there personality.

[Message #46]
Alex Daugherty:

[Message #47]
Alex Daugherty:

[Message #51]
Alex Daugherty:

[Message #52]
Chochi Santos:
I have.

[Message #53]
Chochi Santos:
It was dope.

[Message #54]
Chochi Santos:
I liked the song.

[Message #55]
Alex Daugherty:
do you think those three blond girls represent the sisters?

[Message #56]
Alex Daugherty:
what song?

[Message #57]
Chochi Santos:
Can I get extra credit if I sing it. Just kidding.

[Message #58]
Alex Daugherty:
hehe

[Message #59]
Chochi Santos:
The love song.

[Message #60]
Alex Daugherty:
what song?

[Message #61]
Chochi Santos:
The part when they are dancing.

[Message #62]
Alex Daugherty:
i think they dance in every song scene.

[Message #63]
Chochi Santos:
Hah

[Message #64]
Alex Daugherty:
when beauty and beast are dancing?

[Message #65]
Chochi Santos:
Yes.

[Message #66]
Alex Daugherty:
wait, is that celine dion? are you talking about celine dion?

[Message #67]
Chochi Santos:
I don't know.

[Message #68]
Alex Daugherty:
ok, n/m then.

[Message #69]
Chochi Santos:
Alright then. See ya Monday.

[Message #70]
