[Message #3]
Mercedes Campos:
Which question are you writing your essay on?

[Message #4]
Nancy Duran:
I didn't find a cultural text did you?

[Message #5]
Nancy Duran:
I am doing the first question what about you?

[Message #6]
Nancy Duran:
Did you do the assignment?

[Message #7]
Mercedes Campos:
Pleasant ville is a good example of how back in the 50's the mentality of society was different. Is shows how the women needed to stay home and take care of the kids (nurture),husband, and the house vs. the man went to work and expected a hot meal when he came back fro work.

[Message #8]
Mercedes Campos:
Did you do the assigment?

[Message #9]
Mercedes Campos:
I'm doing the first question

[Message #10]
Nancy Duran:
I did Blast from the Past and bascially it is the same where the women stay at home they do the cooking and the other housework while men go to work.

[Message #11]
Mercedes Campos:
Which vie do you think are dominant? and Emergent?

[Message #12]
Mercedes Campos:
sorry i meant view (vie)

[Message #13]
Amy Lawlor:
did either of you see the movie Mona Lisa Smile?

[Message #14]
Nancy Duran:
No

[Message #15]
Mercedes Campos:
in pleasant ville i think the the whole role of the women is emergent. the fact that she needs to follow a schedule on a daily bases and followed it just to fit in society is emergent.

[Message #16]
Amy Lawlor:
it's a similar story about women growing up and going to college in the 1950's and what is expected of them

[Message #17]
Mercedes Campos:
Mona lisa Smile is another good example. The fact that girls dreams are to marry and have a house, nice stoove, washer/dyer, and a nice tea set, shows how society mold girls from little to want (accepted) all this domestic utilities vs. a buss. suit, computer, and education.

[Message #18]
Nancy Duran:
Which views do you think are dominant and Emergent?

[Message #19]
Mercedes Campos:
in mona lisa smile the dominant views:
1. the mother of the bride, telling her daughter to look the other way, when her husband is cheating on her. and that is normal.
2. Men doing what ever they want vs. the women still need to act proper and refined no matter what they are feeling in side
Emergent view: the women accepting to become the lady of the house.

[Message #20]
Mercedes Campos:
What about you? of the story we read, which views are dominant and which are emergent?

[Message #21]
Nancy Duran:
A emergent view in "Beauty and the Beast" is that Beauty is accepting of taking care of her father and chores that need to be do around the house.

[Message #22]
Mercedes Campos:
Who about dominant?

[Message #23]
Nancy Duran:
A dominant view would be that men are the workers and the ladies stay home and do the housework.

[Message #24]
Mercedes Campos:
in my case i think that the dominant are the fact that she is Courage, independent, loyal, agressive

[Message #25]
Nancy Duran:
Yes those are some dominant views about Beauty.

[Message #26]
Amy Lawlor:
