Journal Entry Guidelines:

journal (jur' n'l) n. 1. a daily record of happenings, a diary.

Journals are a less formal kind of writing than essays, stories or poetry. A journal entry might reflect a long or short period of time or perhaps even a single day's events. The important elements of a journal entry are that it reflects happenings, experiences in your life and your reflection of them. Rather than follow a strict structure, journals tend to follow the thought process which can be both freeing and challenging, although they can--and should--be edited and polished up. Remember, all good writing is the product of editing and revising! In order to protect privacy, you may change names of people who appear in your journal. Because of the intimate and personal nature of journals, they will not be published, however, the winner has the option of reading a selection at the Talisman event.

Journals must express reflection and one's own experience, and of course be good writing. Please submit ten pages, typed, double-spaced, in triplicate.
