Power Balance Worksheet

1.    Set up to read RPM: Hook up whatever equipment you plan to use to read RPM as you turn off one cylinder at a time. You might be using a scan tool, a Fluke 88 multimeter with RPM connector, a timing light with RPM readout, or an analog meter with RPM, or some other equipment. Record the device you are using: _________________________________________________

2.   Prepare to turn off cylinders: How are you going to turn off one cylinder at a time? Scan Tool, or disconnect one fuel injector at a time, or ignition scope, or short out ignition cylinders with test light. If you are going to use vacuum lines on the ignition wires, you must be careful that your test light is always grounded. You don’t want to be shocked by secondary ignition.  How are you going to turn off the cylinders? _________________________________________________

3.   Turn off Cylinders one at a time and record RPM drop:  Wait a short time between cylinders so the engine can stabilize itself.
