GROUP RESEARCH REPORT

Group research report is the sort of activity that is potentially most useful in helping individuals break the behavioral conditioning of competition and at the same time institute a realistic sense of cooperation. The reliance of others to complete “college” requirements is sometimes a fearful endeavor. The group research report introduces the student to a (traditionally) different way of mediating pedagogy. However, the “ group” research report project does not assume that all students will perceive it as pleasure and, or beneficial. It does provide an opportunity for a divergences of student's values and beliefs to be mediated into a group effort.

The group research report and class presentation should include a minimum of three (3) references and one references must be a PEER REVIEWED journal article. Refer to Cañada College's Library website for researching peer reviewed references and other written materials. Minimum of two to five (word processed) pages are required for the group report. Group report should include group members names, titles, table of content and a minimum of three references. Less than the required pages will result in NO CREDIT.

Group Class Presentation
All students taking Psychology 106 will participate in a group research and presentation report project. Groups will involve at least three and not more than five students. Not all students of the group need to be speakers during the project's class presentation: however, all must participate in the writing, research and preparation of data for the summary report. Class presentations will be 20 to 30 minute which may included outside speakers, videos (professional or amateur), audiovisual aids, dramatizations, creative activities, etc.

Group Diary/Journal

Each student will turn in a concise and cogently written overview of the “group” experience (a diary or journal). This write-up is not a reiteration of content from the group report. It is more accurately a summation of the group’s activities. There is no limit to the number of pages but must cover times the group worked together.

e.g., How many times the group met,
        where, when,
        was there a group leader,
was there cooperation between group members,
how do you rate the group experience,
did all members contribute equally towards the final product?

The group activity is designed to stimulate discussion among class members and should prove to be a valuable learning experience.
