TreasurerÕs Report Ð
Theresa Tentes reported there has been no change in our balance since June. We
have $3987.42 in our account. We will need to set aside money for Classified
Staff Scholarships. Last year we awarded two scholarships of $300 each. We have
already set aside $1000 for the Faculty/Staff Scholarship award for May 2004.
Cathy Welch stated that we need approximately $50 to engrave the retireeÕs
plaque.
Phyllis Porcar asked how we would
like to spend the money we raised last year. Discussion followed about having a
one-day, off-campus retreat for classifieds. Tentative dates: Friday, March 19
or 26. Possible locations: Linda Herda will check on Filoli Estate in Woodside;
Pablo will check on a Pescadero site. One suggestion was to look for a
facilitator who might be available for half the day to help us set up a 3-5
year strategic plan. All suggestions will gladly be accepted. The other
half-day could be spent with lunch and a possible hike. Cathy Welch suggested we
check to see if Classified Staff Development Funds might be available to use
for part of the expense.
Our first fundraiser for this year
will be a Bake Sale on Wednesday, October 8, from 8 AM Ð 11 AM. Theresa
Tentes will send out an initial e-mail announcing this event. Cathy Welch will
set up a schedule for tracking volunteers to sell at the table; 4 people at a
time for 30 minute shifts. Please volunteer to bake, set up, sell, take baked
goods to other buildings, and/or clean up. Theresa will also notify Cecilia in
the cafeteria, so she is aware of our event. Barbara Daley volunteered to put
up signs around campus ahead of time, and to take baked goods to building 5.
In November we will begin to plan
for our Holiday Basket raffle.
College Council Ð
Phyllis talked about the latest College Council meeting, information and
application on the Skyline College Institutional Leaders Seminar, and
information on the District Website of the Capital Improvements Program.
Museum of
Tolerance Ð Pablo Gonzalez and Barbara
Daley gave us information on the upcoming presentation of a very powerful
one-man play, titled Horizon Line that will be on campus November
5 & 6. There will be 3 performances, all with very limited seating, on a
first come first served basis. When an e-mail invitation comes out, please RSVP
as soon as possible if you would like to attend.
Institutional Planning Council
Ð Bernie Blackman talked about the philosophy behind the formation of this
committee, and addressed the Accreditation CommitteeÕs Report. There will be an
Accreditation Review at our campus in March 2004. Bernie also shared with us
information on how to interpret charts, graphs and reports that focus on
enrollment numbers that come from the Planning and Research Office. He also
offered to send enrollment reports to anyone who wants to receive them.
Classified Council President,
Phyllis Porcar would like to thank everyone who helped with the Dessert Potluck
and who attended the meeting.
Next meeting will be Thursday,
October 2, 2003, room 5131 at 2PM.
Respectfully submitted by Linda
Herda, Secretary
