Classified Council Meeting
Minutes
Thursday, October 4, 2007
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Room 6203
Present: Roxanne Brewer, Golda Gacutan, Stanlee Garriott, Linda Herda, Nancy Lam, Barbara Lamson, Adolfo Leiva, Felix Perez, Theresa Tentes, Pat Tyler, and Chris Weidman
Minutes from September 6th meeting were reviewed and approved as written.
Guest Speaker
á Mike Celeste – Presentation was postponed because there were so few people at the meeting at 2:00 pm.
o There was a CD made of the presentation, ÒSchool ShooterÓ
¤ Anyone interested in viewing the presentation should call Linda Herda
Bake Sale
á Thank you to everyone who participated! The Classified Staff did an excellent job on the Bake Sale. This yearÕs proceeds were $402.72, an increase over the $330 earned last year.
Potential Workshops for the Classified Council
á Adolfo introduced a list of workshops offered by the Claremont EAP – EAP Brown Bags
o These workshops and speakers are free of charge
o The workshops are already District approved
o Here is a list of the topics and a possible workshop from most of the categories

á Managing Multiple Priorities
¤ Time Management
á Juggling Act: Overview of Work/Life Balance
¤ Communication Skills
¤ Health and Wellness
á Attitude is Everything: Creating a Positive Attitude
¤ Career Management
á Confidence: Being Your Best at Work and Beyond
o The Classified Council discussed these possible subjects and thought it would be good to start with Juggling Act or Managing Multiple Priorities in November or December of this year.
á Earlier discussions focused on the possibility of having a workshop on ÒHow to Create an Effective FlyerÓ – That is still a potential workshop for November
á Flyers were distributed for ÒA Walking Tour of the Skyline CampusÓ with Jan Fosberg, P.E. Instructor, scheduled for October 10th from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
TreasurerÕs Report
á Current balance $3,824.55
á Theresa has gotten a quote for the new retirees plaque
o $217.00 – for the plaque and all engraving for now and in the future
o The first plaque has been on a wall just inside the Library
¤ Are there any suggestions on where the plaques should be placed?
¤ It was discussed that it would be nice to have a dedication ceremony when we hang the old and new plaques
