A "program" is defined by Title 5 as follows:

55000.   Definitions.

 The following definitions shall apply:

  . . . (b) “Educational program” is an organized sequence of courses leading to a defined objective, a degree, a certificate, a diploma, a license, or transfer to another institution of higher education.

The board has elected to rely primarily upon the advice and judgment of the Academic Senate regarding academic and professional matters:

1. Curriculum, including establishing prerequisites.
2. Degree and certificate requirements.
3. Grading policies.
4. Educational program development.
5. Standards or policies regarding student preparation and success.
6. College governance structures, as related to faculty roles.
7. Faculty roles and involvement in accreditation processes.
8. Policies for faculty professional development activities.
9. Processes for program review.
10. Processes for institutional planning and budget development.
11. Other academic and professional matters as mutually agreed upon.

 

Though the formal Program Review Documentation is done every six years, the process of Program Review is one that is continuous:

The information obtained from the formal process of Program Review (self study) is utilized in: continuous program evaluation, division administrative allocation, college budget and strategic planning.
