DRAFT of UNapproved notes for 5/01/07 meeting. Final approval scheduled for 9/4/07 meeting

Present: Moss, Sullivan, Leach, Gibson, Nicol

1. Read and approved with minor changes meeting notes 3-06-07

2. Report from Academic Senate: Academic renewal pushed through.  Carlene mentioned the new Title 5 limits on repeats and Ws.

3. Student privacy: Do we need to spell out in Faculty Handbook?  Garry suggested it as a goal next year to address the issue in the faculty handbook.

4. 2:00 Cheating and plagiarism: No action taken in light of presentation by CindyÕs students as well as the student Campus Climate cheating/plagiarism results.  Cindy would like questions sent to her next time.  They may touch on campus security.

5. Update of Degree Audit: Carlene reported that the test runs show degree audit working perfectly for tracking the fulfillment of district requirements for certificates. Staff must still evaluate credits from outside the district.

6. Report on progress of the DSPS academic accommodations form: Garry talked to Lynn Douglas.  The Galvin Group consultant didnÕt have any magic template to resolve the contradictory time limits and other issues with the appeal procedures adopted by the district.  The consultantÕs most substantial piece of advice is that all responsible parties within the district should meet to agree on revisions.  Carlene will take a look at the current policy and revisions Lynn has suggested.

7. Update on adjusting written procedures for student grievances and appeals to remedy the 1-2 shortcomings that became apparent at the first hearing.
Lori, not here to address this: another goal for next year

8. Report on role of counselors in computerization of early alert system for student grades: Jacquie
wasnÕt here but Carlene reported that the field test went well.  Kudos to Language Arts as early adopters and system testers.
