Review of Draft of Signature Form
Handout:
Signature form used by Curriculum Committee.The committee is in the process of developing its ‘signature form’ to be used to record new and revised policies. Once the form is finalized it will be presented through the shared governance process for approval. When the form is approved, the committee would like to publish it in the Faculty Handbook and on the Ed Policy web page.

Form needs to be inclusive of all shared governance councils.
Create a check list of steps to follow once a policy or revised policy is approved.
Bridget will revise the form & bring back to Ed Policy.

a). Clarification of District Rules and Regs. definition of "working days"- Evelyn and Rosemary
B. Christensen does not know the exact definition for "working days". She suggested that "working days" and "instructional days" have been used interchangeably.
Pat Griffin (VP of Student Services for CSM) and Rosemary will be working together to propose revisions to District’s Rules & Regulations. Rosemary will be the liaison between Ed Policy and VPSS. First emphasis will be placed on the code of conducts for students. Then, they will review the appeals procedure.
b). Extend current timeline from 5 days to 10 days in which to provide decision to the student
10 days for investigative process.
5 days to file a written appeal after receipt of a decision.
Appeals Policy for Student Grievances

Ed Policy is finalizing the appeals procedure to include the Academic Reviews Committee and is considering both a flowchart and table format to illustrate the procedure.
Academic matters – VPI would like to see academic matters come to her office on appeals.
Discipline matters – Should not involved Academic Reviews Committee.
Personnel related matters can be grieved through the union processes.
Change the name ‘Academic Reviews Committee’ to ‘Academic Policy Appeals Committee’.
Recommend that the Student Activities Coordinator be a neutral person who can apprise the students of their rights. This person can provide a safe, confidential and non-intimidating environment for students who have inquiries regarding the ‘grievance and appeal’ procedure. This person can be the first point of contact (name & phone number).
Division Deans can be instructed (template) to inform the student of the appeals process – Call this number & name.

At the Counselors and Principles breakfasts, the question was asked if the high schools would like Skyline College to consider lowering the GPA requirement for concurrent enrollment and the consensus was NO.
