Bulletin Boards
Division bulletin boards are provided in the halls of each building for
posting official notices. These can be used to advertise your courses.
All posted material must bear a date, including student notices. Classroom
bulletin boards are for the use of all campus personnel and programs. Some campus event display boards are available in Building 6. Please see Student Activities for posting in this location.
Display Cabinets
The display cabinets in Building 1 may be reserved by inquiring to Paul Bridenbaugh (738-4267) in the Social Science/Creative Arts Division, at least one month
in advance. Priority is given to Art Department displays but some display
time may be made available for other purposes, if requested.
Elevators
Elevators are located in Buildings 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8.
Equipment Repairs
No calls for equipment service or repairs should be made without prior
authorization and a work order form from your Division Dean. Report any
equipment failure to your Division Office or the Evening Office. The College
maintains several equipment repair contracts, and arrangements need to
be made under these contracts whenever possible.
Facility Scheduling
After the second week of instruction, rooms and other facilities may be
scheduled by on-campus or off-campus groups by contacting Annie Trihn at 738-4339 or skyevents@smccd.edu.
Keys
Key requests are handled through Division Offices. Full-time faculty and
staff are issued keys to the building in which their office is located.
Classroom doors (day and evening) may be unlocked when you arrive
for your class. If for some reason the door is locked, contact your Division
Office or the Evening Office where a key will be available. If there is
some reason for another key to be issued to you, contact your Division
Office.
Lost and Found
The Bookstore and Security handles lost and found items. Call extension
4211 or 4212 for the Bookstore and extension 4301 for the Security Office
to check on lost items.
Publicity Resources
Skylines Office of College Development, Marketing and Public Relations
is staffed by Director Sandy Irber
(x4492), Public Information Officer Shelly Hausman (x4346), and Rakefet Avramovitz,
Staff Assistant. Skyline College plays an important educational role in
the North San Mateo County community. Building a clear public image, through
first impressions, consistent messages, and delivery of high quality programs
and services is the top priority of the office. As the clearinghouse for
external communications and community outreach, the Development, Marketing
& Public Relations office will create press releases, program brochures
and related communications for faculty. In order to maintain consistent
standards and practices, all external communications should be coordinated
through this office. In cooperation with the Office of the Vice President
of Instruction, the office handles the publication of the Catalog and
the Schedule of Classes.
Purchasing
Because Skyline College, as a part of the San Mateo County Community College
District, is supported primarily by public funding (property taxes and
other state budget allocations), purchasing requires administrative approval
which assures that state regulations are followed.
Normally, requisitions for purchases are initiated at
the Division Office level--requiring the approval of the Division Dean.
For instructional programs approval by the Vice President of Instruction
is also required. A requisition is "final approved" at the college
by the Business office. The Purchasing Department at the SMCCCD issues
an official Purchase Order.
Purchases involving small amounts (under $100.00) should
be done directly with a vendor and can be reimbursed directly through
the Petty Cash Fund. It is important, however, that permission is obtained
from the Division Dean prior to making even a small purchase. If permission
is not obtained, expenses will not necessarily be considered reimbursable.
If you have questions about the purchasing process please
inquire at the Division office first. Should you need further direction
or advice, contact the College Business Office at 738-4006.
Thermostat Settings
The District has adopted certain energy conservation measures in compliance
with the building temperature restrictions established by the Department
of Energy. The minimum temperature setting for room heating is 68 degrees
and the maximum temperature setting for room heating is 70°F. Please
do not attempt to adjust the thermostat settings from the 68/70 degree
setting as it throws off the distribution of heat throughout the buildings.
The use of portable heaters is discouraged.
