Private = Public

Jet Martinez is a Mexican born, San Francisco based Muralist and Painter. He has been painting for most of his life. He received his BFA in painting and printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. His paintings have been exhibited in many galleries throughout the city, as well as in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Washington DC, and Phoenix. He has exhibited internationally in Oaxaca, Mexico, Tokyo, Japan, and Zurich Switzerland.
Well known within the public art community and featured in a variety of publications and web articles, his public murals dot the San Francisco landscape from the Dogpatch to the Sunset District and his unique and vibrant style is easily recognized. In addition to San Francisco, he has completed projects in New York, Los Angeles, San Jose, Arizona, Colorado, Mexico, Switzerland, and Brazil.
There is a distinction between what he considers personal work (paintings), and public work (murals). The public work is more concerned with social issues relating to the human role within nature. These works are elaborate compositions with high attention to detail and the use of light refracting materials to draw the viewer's attention.
His studio work is more focused on materials and rich detailing. The subjects are almost exclusively natural forms, and often portray a single plant or animal. Glitters, metal leafs and resins are used to create surfaces that appear to emanate light from within.
