Office Administration Program








Current computer skills and office procedures and practices are provided in all of the Office Administration (OFAD) programs. The programs are designed to serve students of various backgrounds and goals: entry-level employees, individuals who wish to upgrade current skills for career advancement; classes for students who need office skills for personal use or for transfer to four-year institutions. Practical skills and procedures are taught using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate varying learning styles. Office Assistant

Start your career as an office assistant, clerk, receptionist, or administrative support assistant by enrolling in our Office Assistant program. Students strengthen written and oral communications skills, learn office procedures/practices, and develop human relations skills. The Office Assistant program emphasizes keyboarding, word processing, machine calculation, filing and records management, and an introduction to a variety of application software packages. Students learn to create letters, memos, reports, and presentations to meet the many challenges in today's busy office. The program is an excellent career starter leading toward employment where a variety of basic office skills are required.

Computer Information Specialist

Learn computer skills for an exciting career as a Computer Information Specialist. This program is for the student who seeks a career that requires exceptional computer skills. Career opportunities range from data entry operators to information processing assistants. The program features the most popular application software packages (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics, and communications) along with business communications and office procedures/practices classes. This career is excellent for a detail-oriented person who has a high proficiency in keyboarding and a command of several software programs

Medical Transcriptionist

Consider a career in the fast-paced and ever-changing health care industry. Medical transcription students are prepared to work in a variety of settings including public and private medical clinics, hospitals, medical research groups, and city and state health departments. Learn medical terminology and transcription, human anatomy, word processing, and filing and records management. Students become familiar with medical terminology, patient assessment, therapeutic procedures, diagnoses, and prognoses, as they develop excellent transcription skills. With flexible hours, full- and part-time jobs available, high potential for advancement, and an option of working from home, this is an attractive and exciting career choice.

Administrative Assistant

Excitement prevails in the career path of the Administrative Assistant. Executive secretary, administrative assistant, and professional secretary positions are the goals for students enrolled in this program. Start with the basics of accounting, keyboarding, and microcomputers. Expand current skills with courses in filing, shorthand, machine transcription, word processing, and desktop publishing. Cap off your program with courses that develop organizational, decision-making, and human relations skills to compete successfully in today's challenging workforce.

Legal Secretary

If you are interested in a dynamic career in the legal field, enroll in the Legal Secretary program. This program is designed to develop skills and knowledge in preparation for the legal professions. Students develop an understanding of typical civil and administrative procedures, learn how to use law library resources, and prepare correspondence and legal documents. Students gain competency in legal terminology and transcription of legal documents and develop communication and organizational skills. Whether for a small office of large firm, students are equipped with administrative and clerical tools that are necessary to succeed in a legal secretarial career.
