TROJANS FINISH SEASON ON THE ROAD
February 20, 2006

The Skyline College Basketball team finished up the 2005-2006 season with their final two games away from home, a scenario that this years nomadic team became very used to. With their home gym under construction the Trojans practiced and played all season at the College of San Mateo and despite making a late season push for the playoffs Skyline will be glad to return to their new home in the Fall of 2006.

A 90-60 setback at Chabot College of Hayward preceded a 72-54 loss to Coast Conference Champions San Francisco City College. Against Chabot sophomore guard Marques Benjamin scored a team high 14 points and another sophomore Paul Phangureh added 10.

Skyline ended the season with an 11-19 overall and 4-6 Coast Conference record, a two game improvement under second year head coach Justin Piergrossi.

SKYLINE UPSETS # 8 OHLONE TO STAY PERFECT IN CONFERENCE
January 18, 2006
Skyline 62, Ohlone College 55

After playing one of the toughest pre-conference schedules in the state and enduring a nine game losing streak the Skyline Men's Basketball team is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Things got really bright on Wednesday night when the Trojans lead from the tip to the final whistle during their 62-55 win over visiting Ohlone College of Fremont.

Skyline's leading scorer Jeremy Francis dropped in a game high 17 points on 7 of 8 shooting, but the line of the night belonged to freshman forward Jabari Davis who recorded a double-dozen, with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Skyline led by as many as 16 points midway through the second half but allowed the Renegades to close to within 5 with just three minutes remaining. In the final minutes the Trojans kept their composure and found a way to break the Ohlone pressure to secure the seven point win. Skyline shot just 48% from the field but defensively they locked down Ohlone with 7 steals and 9 blocks.

The win keeps Skyline (9-13) atop the Coast Conference North Division with a 2-0 record. On Friday the Trojans will travel to Foothill College in Los Altos for a 7:00pm tip.

SKYLINE LOSES TO WEST VALLEY IN TOURNAMENT FINAL

December 11, 2005
Skyline 74, West Valley 84

Skyline College lost in the Skyline Classic Championship game to West Valley College , the 3 rd ranked team in the state.  The Trojans got off to a quick start, leading 6-0 before leading scorer Jabari Davis suffered a severe ankle sprain.  That left Skyline with just two available post players.  Sam Wilhoite and Filip Popovic (both 6'7 forwards) missed the entire tournament due to injuries suffered in the prior weeks.  Skyline battled as much as it could and stayed close, trailing 41-35 at the half.

West Valley used a combination of good shooting and offensive rebounding to keep the Trojans from making a prolonged run.  The final score was 84-74.  Skyline was led by Paul Phangureh's 20 points and Darren Morrison's 14 points and 4 assists.  Brandon O'Bannon scored his season-high of 12 points and Jeremy Francis added 13 as well.
