SKYLINE ENDS SEASON ON WIN STREAK

The Skyline Men's soccer team ended their season with three wins and a tie in four games to push their final record to 9-9-3, but fell short of the playoffs for just the second time in the last five years.

Wins against Mission College, Los Positas College and Ohlone College and a hard fought tie against Evergreen Valley College sent the Trojans out winners in 2007.

Thirteen Trojans tallied points this season, lead by Jesus Ochoa and Jose Lanza who each had five goals. Oscar Rodriguez lead Skyline in assists with six and goalkeeper Eduardo Gaitan finished the season allowing just 16 goals in 1325 minutes, good for a 1.08GAA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TROJANS LOSE, TIE IN PLAYOFF PUSH

With just five games remaining on their schedule the Skyline Men's Soccer team earned an impressive 2-2 tie against nationally ranked Hartnell College, but dropped yet another one goal game on the road, falling to district rival Canada College, 2-1 on Tuesday.






 

 

 

 

SKYLINE BATTLES FOOTHILL

SKYLINE 1, FOOTHILL 2

The Skyline Men's Soccer team looked to push their three match undefeated streak to four games when they hosted Foothill College of Los Altos on Tuesday. Playing some of their best soccer of the season the Trojans battled the Coast Conference leaders for the entire game before falling 2-1.

Alfonso Vierya gave Skyline the lead in the first half after earning a penalty for the Trojans. Both teams battled back and forth for the entire first half until Foothill leveled the match with a penalty of their own to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second half both teams had several good scoring chances but as the game entered the 90th minute it looked like the match was going to end in a draw, but Foothill rallied for a late goal in stoppage time to take the 2-1 win.

For Skyline (6-7-1) , it was their fifth one goal loss of the season. The Trojans will look to get back on track when they face Hartnell College of Salinas on Friday, Oct. 19th at 2:00pm.






 

 


TROJANS PUSH RIVALS TO LIMIT
October 3, 2007

The Skyline College Men's soccer team faced off against two of their closest rivals this week and despite playing some of their best soccer of the season fell 1-0 to Canada College of Redwood City on Friday and 1-0 to San Francisco City College yesterday,

SKYLINE 0, SFCC 1


Skyline traveled to San Francisco to face off against SFCC on Tuesday and for the second time in as many games the Trojans battled, but could not produce a goal as they fell 1-0.

Goalkeeper Eduardo Gaitan played the entire game, allowing just one goal while making two spectacular saves to keep Skyline in the match. Skyline had several great scoring opportunities in the game, but for the third game in a row could not find the back of the net.

The loss drops the Trojans to 4-6-1 overall and 1-3 in the Coast Conference. Skyline will travel to Las Positas College of Livermore on Friday for a 3:00pm kickoff.


SKYLINE 0, CANADA 1

Skyline faced county rival Canada College of Redwoods City on Friday and once again struggled to find the offense punch to grab a victory. Defensively Skyline rallied around the outstanding goal keeping of Johnny Marcelo who kept Canada off the scoreboard for the first 90 minutes of the match.

In the 91st minute however, Skyline defenders, attempting to clear a loose ball out of the Trojans box, surrendered an own goal, sending Skyline to their second straight one goal defeat.

 

 

 

 





 

 




SKYLINE SPLITS A PAIR TO OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY
September, 26, 2007

SKYLINE 5, GAVILAN 0

The Skyline College Men's Soccer team opened Coast Conference play with a 5-0 win at home over Gavilan College and a 1-0 loss to Hartnell College of Salinas on the road.

The Trojans scored early and often versus Gavilan, leading scorer Jesus Ochoa had two goals and an assist, and Eduardo Rizo scored his second of the season. Craig Dillie and Oscar Rodriguez each scored their first goals of the year in the win.

Goalkeepers Eduardo Gaitan and Daniel Kotlar combined to for Skyline's third shutout of the season. The win moves Skyline to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Coast Conference.

SKYLINE 0, HARTNELL 1

Skyline traveled to Salinas on Tuesday and despite five saves from goalkeeper Eduardo Gaitan and several good scoring opportunities the Trojans could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss.

Skyline, (4-4, 1-1) will host county rival Canada College of Redwood City on Friday, Sept. 28th at 1:00pm.



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TROJANS TAKE TITLE AT DE ANZA / EVERGREEN CUP
September 4, 2007

After dropping their season opener on the road to Contra Costa College 2-1 the Skyline Men's Soccer team won three games in a row to capture the title at the De Anza/Evergreen Valley Cup over the holiday weekend.

The Trojans began their streak with a 3-1 win over Evergreen Valley on Friday. Jasper Garcia, Jose Lanza and Jesus Ochoa each scored their first goals of the season in the win.

On Sunday, Skyline shut out West Valley College 2-0. Jasper Garcia scored his second goal in as many games and Orion Smith finished off the scoring for the Trojans. Goalkeeper Eduardo Gaitan recorded is first shutout of the season.

On Monday, Skyline clinched the tournament title with a 1-0 win over tournament host De Anza College. Jose Lanza scored his second goal of the season and Eduardo Gaitan didn't allow a goal for the second straight game.

Skyline (3-1) will travel to Foothill College of Los Altos on Wednesday, Sept 5th. for a 3:00pm game.
