TROJANS ADVANCE WITH FIRST ROUND WIN

For the second year in a row the Skyline Women's Basketball team has advanced to the second round of the Northern California Community College Basketball playoffs. With a 60-48 win over # 8 seed Lassen College of Susanville the Trojans will face #1 seed San Francisco City College on Sat. March 7th at 5:30pm.
Against Lassen, Laura Zasly lead all scorers with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Danielle Simon added 13 points.

The Skyline Women's Basketball team earned the #9 seed and will hit the road for the first round of this years Northern California Community College Women's Basketball playoffs. The Trojans( 23-6, 6-4) who finished third in the Coast Conference North Division will face the # 8 seed Lassen College Cougars ( 18-11, 8-2 ) who finished tied for first in the Golden Valley Conference. The winner gets to face #1 seed San Francisco City College in the second round. Skyline did not face Lassen in the 2008-09 regular season, but did beat Lassen 73-69 last year in the first round of the playoffs.

Skyline closed out their 2009 Coast Conference schedule with an impressive 62-47 win over Chabot College of Hayward. The win moves Skyline's overall record to 22-6 and they finish 6-4 in the Coast Conference North Division, good for third place, the programs highest ever finish in league.
Three Trojans scored in double figures, lead by Laura Zasly's game high 17 points. Danielle Simon scored 14 points and Katie Zasly added 12. Skyline will close out the regular season with a non-conference makeup game at Laney College of Oakland and will then wait to hear who they will face in the first round of the Northern California Community College Basketball Playoffs. Currently the Trojans are ranked 11th in the Northern California Basketball Coaches Poll.

Katie Zasly's layup with 2.1 seconds left in the game proved to be the game winner as Skyline picked up their 20th win of the season, 54-52 at College of San Mateo on Wednesday night. Katie Zasly lead the Trojans with 15 points and sister Laura Zasly chipped in 13. The win moves Skyline (20-6, 5-4) into third place in the Coast Conference North with just two games remaining in the 2009 regular season.
TROJANS REBOUND WITH BIG WINS

After dropping two straight Coast Conference games to #2 San Francisco City College and #3 Foothill College the Trojans bounced back with impressive wins over district rival College of San Mateo and # 15 Chabot College of Hayward.
Skyline, currently ranked #12 in this weeks Northern California top 15 teams, hosted College of San Mateo on Wednesday night and pulled out a hard fought 68-82 win. Laura Zasly scored a game high 29 points and Katie Zasly added 11 points and four assists.
On Friday, Skyline hosted Chabot College of Hayward and Laura Zasly recorded a double-double, scoring 28 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Jenn Matawaran added 11 points and five rebounds. The win moved Skyline (17-4-3-2) into a tie for second in the Coast Conference North Division.
SKYLINE OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY WITH WIN

After a 14-2 pre-season the # 10 Trojans kept it rolling with a dominant 72-53 win over Las Positas College of Livermore on Friday night. Laura Zasly had a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jennifer Matawaran added 16 points and Salote Tafuna chipped in 10 points. Katie Zasly lead the team with 12 rebounds.
It was the 12th straight win for the Trojans who are now 15-2, 1-0 in Conference play. Skyline will face their toughest test of the season so far when they travel to #3 Foothill College of Los Altos, on Tuesday Jan 13th at 7:00pm.
TROJANS POST 14-2 MARK IN PRE-CONFERENCE

The Skyline Women's Basketball team pushed their season high win streak to 10 games after a 69-47 win over Monterey Peninsula College on Saturday. Katie Zasley scored a game high 20 points to lead Skyline. Two other Trojans scored in double figures, including Danielle Simon who chipped in 12 points and Jennifer Matawaran who had 13 points. Skyline also had a good night at the free throw line, hitting 23 of 34 foul shots.
At 14-2 the Trojans are ranked 10th in Northern California and will open Coast Conference North play on Wednesday when they host Las Positas College of Livermore.
SKYLINE CAPTURES TOURNAMENT TITLE

Skyline pushed their season high win streak to five games, winning all three of their games this weekend at the East Bay Classic hosted by Merritt College, capturing their first tournament title this season. On Friday night Skyline topped Laney College of Oakland 67-45. Katie Zasly lead the way with 18 points. In the second round the Trojans avenged an earlier loss to Butte College of Oroville with a 74-62 win, Katie Zasly again lead the way, scoring a season high 29 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Laura Zaley added 19 points, nine rebounds and Salote Tafuna scored 11points and grabbed seven boards in the win.
In the championship game Skyline faced fellow Coast Conference member Las Positas of Livermore and closed out the tournament with a 63-47 win.
TROJANS OFF TO A FAST START IN '08-'09 SEASON

In their first eight games the Skyline Women's Basketball team has been one of the highest scoring teams in the Coast Conference, averaging 62.4 points a game, but even more impressive is that fact they they currently rank second in the state of California in points allowed at 46.3 PPG. At 6-2 the Trojans have the second best pre-season record in the conference and will look to add to that total when the host Hartnell College of Salinas on Wednesday Dec. 10th at 5:30pm.
So far this season he Trojans have been lead by a trio of newcomers, Laura and Katie Zasley, who have been averaging 18.7 and 16.1 PPG respectively so far this season. Freshman guard Danielle Simon leads Skyline on the boards, averaging 5.7 rebounds per game and she has turned many of those second chances into points, averaging just under ten points a game.
Skyline's focus on defense has them forcing their opponents to turn the ball over an average of 22.4 times a game, when the Trojans have the ball they are shooting 55% from the field, 44% from beyond the three point line, and 62% from the free throw line.
