For students planning to transfer to the university for fall 2009 now is the time to begin preparing your applications for the UC and CSU.


October 1st through November 30th -
CSU application process begins.

November 1st through November 30th -
UC application process begins.


Private Schools vary but generally are due in the Spring.
However, students should simultaneously prepare these applications along with
their UC applications. Private schools will generally require letters of recommendation and may even request high school transcripts. Most private schools utilize the Common Application.



ESSENTIAL WEBSITES FOR TRANSFERRING

Assist.org - Assist is a great tool for finding out major prep courses needed to transfer. The site shows the articulation agreements between 2 year and 4 year public colleges in CA.

CSU Mentor - a knowledge base for CSU related questions. Students also apply online using this website.

UC Admissions Information - The UC application is an online process and includes two essay questions. Many students print out a paper copy before filling out their online applications.

The best way to ensure your application is competitive is to stay informed of what the campus is looking for in prospective students.

What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field — such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities — and what you have gained from your involvement.

Prompt #2
Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

The Common Application - the Common Application is the one you will use if applying to transfer to such schools as Caltech (California Institute of Technology), Cornell University, Duke University, Stanford University, New York University, University of Pennsylvania, University of the Pacific, University of San Francisco and over 300 more colleges throughout the US.
