The Learning Center is a friendly and flexible learning environment that serves as the campus hub for students to receive in-depth academic support to meet their specific learning needs. Our goal is to offer a nurturing environment that supports self-awareness, self-expression, cooperation, subject mastery and the capacity to thrive in an academic culture. Our vision is that students understand their strengths and capabilities, become independent learners, gain skills, and go out into their communities with increased sophistication. The center is a place that nurtures curiosity as well as it teaching specific skills. It requires students to take responsibility for their own learning, but encourages learning as a collegial and collaborative process.
The Writing and Reading Lab (WRL) offers three open-entry, open-exit, variable unit courses: English 650 (TRIO English Supplement), English 655 (ESL Supplement) and 853 (Writing Supplement). These credit/no credit courses provide support and individual instruction in all aspects of reading and writing in college.
The Math Assistance Lab (MAL) helps students to build skill and confidence in all levels of math, from basic skills to Calculus and Statistics. The MAL also offers a credit/no credit course: Math 650.
TRIO/STAARS Program:
helps students achieve their educational goals by supporting academic
success at Skyline and assisting with transfer. To participate, students
