How do I get started?

Perhaps you never thought that you could go to college. Perhaps you were never encouraged. Perhaps you thought you weren't smart enough. Perhaps you thought you didn't have the time.

Just thinking about returning to college can be scary. The WIT Program is here to help make that transition a little easier.

Step 1 - You have just taken it! By visiting our website it is obvious you're just a little bit curious.

Step 2 - Call Lori Slicton, WIT Coordinator at (650) 738-4157 or contact her via e-mail at slicton@smccd.edu to set up a get-acquainted appointment.

Step 3 - At this meeting, if you have not done so already, you will be asked to fill out an application for admission to Skyline College which should take about ten minutes. It is free to apply to Skyline College. The student will hand in the application to Admissions & Records.

Step 4 - Once your information is in the system, a counseling appointment should be made.  If you have had prior college experience, try to bring along a copy of your transcripts.  You can discuss academic programs and course options in this meeting

Step 5 - All new students are  encouraged to take the English and Math Placement tests as soon as possible.  These are not entrance exams but simply serve as assessment tools to help place students in the most appropriate courses. It is not required that students take these exams before beginning college but it is strongly recommended.

Step 6 - Be ready to go on the first day of class!
