What are Student Learning Outcomes?

Student Learning Outcomes address learning from the student's point of view: "At the end of this course, the student will be able to ...." Thus, SLOs are explicit statements describing knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes that a student will be able to demonstrate as a result of his or her engagement in a particular lesson, course, program, or college experience. A college experience is defined as a course, a program, a degree or certificate, interactions with Student Services and/or the library. Once SLOs are identified, they must be assessed. The results of the assessment will help shape changes to improve student learning. Thus, the SLO Assessment Cycle continues. Click for more info!  •  Read about Accreditation Standards
