The San Mateo County Community College District is governed by a six member Board of Trustees, five elected at-large by County voters for four-year terms and one elected by students for a one-year term. The Board governs one of the largest community college districts in the State of California.The Board generally holds public meetings at 6:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the District's headquarters, 3401 CSM Drive, San Mateo, California. Agendas for the meetings are posted several days in advance of the meeting or may be reviewed online or requested by phoning (650) 358-6753.

Elected to the Board in November 1997; Board President, 2002 and 2008. Former member and president of the Millbrae Elementary District Board; current Executive Director, Consumer Federation of California. Serves on Improving Access to Educational Opportunity Task Force. In 1995, served on California Department of Education's School to Career Curriculum Committee. Served on the California Community Colleges Vocational Education Plan Committee and the San Mateo County Private Industry Council. Wrote the Minimum Wage Initiative (Proposition 210) and was the manager of a successful campaign for passage of Proposition 210. Served on the Board of Trustees of the United Way of the Bay Area, Caltrain Citizens Advisory Committee, and the San Mateo Growth Policy Council. Graduate of University of Rochester; also attended graduate school at Cornell University. Resident of Millbrae. Term expires 2013.

Elected to the Board in November, 2003; was Board President in 2006. Also serves on the President’s Council for Innovation at Skyline College. Previously served on the San Mateo County Office of Education Internet Access Task Force. Is currently a trustee and vice chair of the California State Parks Foundadtion, and is a Board member of the local chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Was 2001 Silicon Valley Man of the Year. Has previously been a Board member of the Volunteer Center of San Mateo County and was a member of the 1997 San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury. Was founder and CEO of QuickHealth, Inc., a provider of primary care medical services, and was previously co-founder, Executive Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer of Docent, Inc., a pioneer in online learning software. Has more than 30 years of entrepreneurial experience with Silicon Valley startup companies. Graduate of Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science degree (with distinction) and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Resident of Hillsborough. Term expires 2015.

Elected to the Board in November, 1995; served two previous terms as Board President. Attorney; currently serving as the Executive Director CASA of San Mateo County. Former member of the Board of the San Mateo County Community Colleges Foundation, appointed Commissioner of First 5 of San Mateo County and Board member of Redwood City Education Foundation. Former positions include: Coordinator of the Street Law Program of the University of Santa Clara Law School; the Middle School Street Law Program of the University of San Francisco School of Law; District Office Director and Legislative Aide to Former Assemblyman Ted Lempert; and elementary school teacher in Virginia. Graduate of University of San Francisco School of Law and the University of Virginia. Resident of Belmont. Term expires 2015.

Elected to the Board in April 2013. Born in Burma and immigrated to the US in September of 2006. Graduated from Mills High School in 2012. Currently attending Skyline College, with a double major in International Relations and Legal Studies. Also serves as Vice President of Fellowship for Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Skyline College. Previously served as Senator at Associated Students of Skyline College. Was Founder and President of Skyline Model United Nations. Was the President of Amnesty International chapter at Mills. Previously interned for Congresswoman Jackie Speier. Served as Student Ambassador at Millbrae Chamber of Commerce. Is the former group leader of Student Ambassadors and an active member at World Affairs Council of Northern California. Had been a Summer Intern at the City Hall of Millbrae. Was the Filing Clerk at the Law Offices of Nadeem Makada in Burlingame. Had been given the Distinguished Service Award by Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Skyline College. As Student Trustee, David is 100% committed to serving the interests of all students in the San Mateo Community College District.
