Tests:  Three midterm tests and one final exam will be given in this course.  The format for each test will be a mixture of multiple choice, short answer, matching and fill-in-the-blank.

Make-ups will not be given.  Tests will be based on both required reading material and lectures.

Grading:  In addition to tests, required homework assignments will be given.    Your final grade will be based on the number of points you accumulate.  Tests are worth points, homework assignments (including projects and term papers) are worth points, attendance and participation are worth points.  Extra credit opportunities are available to those students who have completed all other assignments.  A calendar with extra credit lectures listed is on my website.  Points earned from test grades come out to be about 60% of your final grade; homework assignments, attendance and participation are worth approximately 40%.

Withdrawal:
You are responsible for dropping the course if necessary.  Do not expect to be automatically dropped if you do not show up for class.

Attendance: Since all lectures will not be covered in the reading, it is important to attend class regularly.  If you miss a class, you are responsible for getting the notes from a classmate or making up any work you may have missed. Class will always begin on time and you are expected to be on time. If you come in late, you may miss important announcements or test material. You may be dropped from the course if you exceed 6 absences.

Letter grades will be assigned approximately as follows:

            A          90% or better overall

            B          80%  “ “

            C          70%    “           “

            D         60%    “           “

            F          Below 60%
