Internet Service Providers  offer you connection to the Internet for a charge (~$20 per month) and may include a few other features:

  • an email account POP with webmail (with one or more user names)
  • server space (for storing files or posting web pages)
  • some offer high speed Internet connection (DSL, aDSL, sDSL,Cable Modem)
  • most offer portal pages that you can tailor to contain the information that you want to see and access.
  • some, such as AOL, offer an "environment" in which the user does not even have to leave the AOL community to find pages on weather, sports, entertainment, etc., all of which is maintained by AOL.
  • others offer SPAM filters, Popup Blockers
  • a few offer 24/7 suppport
