Author Search
Do an author search when you have a specific author in mind. Books are usually written by one individual, but sometimes there are two or more authors (joint authorship). A special kind of author is a corporate author, which refers to an organization, such as a government agency, association, or company that is recognized as the author of a work. Examples of author searches: Dickens, Charles (usually last name entered first, separated by a comma from the first name) Asimov, Isaac
Practice (author)
STEP1: Connect STEP2: From
the Search
menu, click on the up-down arrows, and select Author
from the menu.
STEP3: Move the cursor into the box to the right of the menu and enter the name of an author - Lastname, First. Click "Go". STEP 4: Write Down The Call number Once you have a specific title displayed, you can write down the call number. A call number is a combination of letters and numbers assigned to a book to indicate its shelving location. It is an "address" that allows you to find that item in the library. Call numbers are found on the spine of the book and on the full display of bibliographic records. This arrangement is intended to be convenient for library users since books on the same subject are placed together on the same shelf.
