From your Reader, read and annotate Hisaye Yamamoto’s short story. To prepare for the quiz, be prepared to answer any questions from the Reader, 66.
Wednesday, April 18
OUTCOMES: Analyze “Wilshire Bus”; explain the Quadrant II Time Management System.
Staple the essay cover letter (Reader 47) on top of essay #3 to and the two blue peer response sheets. Underline your three sentences with coordinators and/ or subordinators.
From College Success, read and annotate 108- 116. Be prepared to explain each strategy.
Also from College Success, circle the two quotes in the margins that “speak” to you.
Please note that next Thursday, the 26th, is the last day to withdraw. Please see me if you have any questions.
Friday, April 20
OUTCOME: Explain four self-management systems.
From College Success, reread 108- 116, and then for the next week, use strategy # 3, 4, or 5 from “Embracing Change” (128-129) or commit to not doing your time waster for the next week. Due on Monday, April 30th is the used tool (or if committing to not doing your time waster, indicating what it is), and the chart and your responses to the questions from 128- 129.
From College Success/ On Course, read and annotate “Developing Self Discipline” (116- 118). Quiz.
By next Wednesday, read and annotate Amy Tan’s “Best Quality”, and complete the journal and the vocabulary chart.
Optional: Revise your second essay by Friday, April 27. You must meet with me if you plan to revise. Highlight the major additions in your revision, and submit it with the original and gradesheet.

OUTCOMES: Combine sentences with adjective clauses; analyze “Best Quality.”

OUTCOMES: Analyze “First Love”; brainstorm rough thesis statements.
Create an outline for your fourth essay. Include a rough thesis at the top, and indicate what will go each body paragraph. The more complete your outline, such as listing supporting scenes and/or quotes, the stronger your outline will be.
Create index cards for Roots II (Reader 62).

OUTCOME: Generate rough thesis statements and outlines.
