Course
Description:
A continuation of Chinese 111, with further development of the skills of
listening,
speaking, reading, writing and basic grammar.
(UC / CSU)
Course
Content and Student Learning Outcomes:
Instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the topics
of making
appointment, studying Chinese, school life,
shopping, weather, transportation.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
Speaking: Conduct oral communications, produce accurate pronunciation
and
intonation.
Listening: Understand short dialogues, narratives on daily life
situations introduced in
the textbook and supplementary material.
matters. Use basic
reading strategies to identify categories, main ideas,
organizations, and specific details.
Writing: Write traditional characters, comprehend co-relational
simplified characters.
Employ basic sentence structures and vocabulary, produce coherent
paragraphs,
dialogues, and letters.

Assignments Submission:
Assignments will be both online and
hand written. Students are expected to submit
All the assignments on time to receive full credit.
Late submission within the week of
the due date will receive only half credit. If
later than a week, assignment may not be
accepted.
Final Examination:
The final examination will be
comprehensive oral and written exams covering the
lessons taught in the textbook. Students need
to be on campus to take the final oral
and written exams.
Grading Policy:
The final grade will be based on the
following:
a. Completion of homework and assignments on time 60%
b.
Final exam 40%

The two required meetings on campus are
