Make a photo without a camera? Shoot in the dark without a flash? Why do we throw a picture into really hot water? In this hands-on digital and film photography class, you will have fun with metering, composition and understanding the camera’s menus and modes while exploring these concepts through still-life, portraiture, outdoor shooting, printing and alternative processes. A camera is not required but bring it if you have one.

Design and develop a movie as a class, starting with the storyboard, and ending with a CD.
Learn and practice all the steps necessary to build the animated story from the storyboard.

Do you enjoy expressing yourself through the written word? Do you see yourself as the next J.K. Rowling? Could you use a little extra help with your writing before the school year begins? Join us for an enrichment class designed to help you use your creativity to express yourself and improve your writing and grammar skills. Learn language arts aspects such as grammar, usage, sentence structure, and focus mainly on descriptive writing skills through enrichment activities. Whether you’re an “A” student in English or just need some writing practice, you will have fun and become more prepared for the upcoming school year.

Welcome to the entertaining world of theater arts! You will be introduced to basics of theater: acting, theater vocabulary, and how to work together as a fantastic ensemble. You will have the opportunity to participate in fun, and sometimes even outright silly and ridiculous theater games to learn about vocalization, physical actions, characterization, stage presence, using your imagination, and much more! Learn new skills and drama games each day and leave the class with a working knowledge of theater. Break a leg!

Explore the excitement of using GPS receivers to navigate, measure speed and distance, find hidden stashes, draw and play games. Learn the fundamentals of marking waypoints and finding locations and set up scavenger hunts on our lovely campus, make puzzles that can only be solved by finding clues and location. Learn how to geocache and play our versions of geoDashing, geoArt and geoGolf. Find coordinates on Google earth, change coordinate formats, download and upload tracks and waypoints and you have got the perfect technical/physical combination!

Slap on some safety goggles, snap on some gloves and get ready for this incredible journey into the science lab. Uncover the secrets of chemistry as you grow a crazy crystal garden, build a giant bubbling potion and transform regular liquid into an oozing batch of slippery slime. Transform the classroom into a forensic science lab as you learn about detective science and use your newfound knowledge to become a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI)!

Learn about the uses of robots in our world and spend time experimenting with super-cool “bots” that do all kinds of neat things (maybe even design a robot to make your bed and clean your room!). Build your very own robot to take home with you!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Soccer - top of page

Let’s play ball! Join the outdoor fun and games. Play with your buddies. Meet new friends. Develop skills in ball handling, throw ins and basic rules of the game. Participate in a variety of soccer “lead up” games that build on your skill development of the sport. Shin guards are required.

Get out in the fresh air and get out all your extra energy! Participate in sport activities that promote healthy exercise and team cooperation. Learn the fundamentals of flag football and other field games. Learn about fair play and team work. Come join the fun!
