Computer Game Design

Acting and Improvisation

Up on your feet and act out those stories and zany characters in your head! Learn to communicate characters through their movements, rhythms, objectives and relationships to each other, improvise stories, fracture fairy tales, and play and perform with others. Learn valuable “partnering” tools in groups to create a sense of space and character through pantomime activities. Come away from this class with fun acting skills and greater self-confidence, poise and ease.

This popular class starts with a story or fable drawn from Greek myths, hero tales or international fairy and folk tales. You will analyze the story, and draw sketches from your analysis of themes, character or setting, learn perspective and figure drawing and assemble a portfolio of your sketches. You will eventually design costumes and sets for the story of your choice and present a production concept from your classroom sketches and swatches.

Fashion Sketching

Get ready for “Project Runway”! Enter the fascinating world of fashion design. Explore the foundations of fashion illustration. Learn the skills and techniques of drawing modern fashion figures from a fashion designer and art instructor.

Intriguing Entomology, Art and Manners

Explore the world of insects. Learn how they live, what they eat, how they take care of their young, etc. Have fun making edible insects out of cookies, fruits and vegetables as you learn about nutritional values. The second half of the class is devoted to social skills. Using role-playing, games and activities, you will enjoy learning proper table manners, discover how to make a good first impression and learn valuable etiquette tips to become more confident and comfortable in social settings.

Musical Funfare

Tap into your musical talents with beginning voice and singing in this exciting musical class. Overcome shyness and build skills through musical exercises, dance basics and a variety of movements. Enjoy learning from a professional singer with a musical comedy background.

Humor is the best medicine. Learn basic character design, proportion and perspective. Enjoy capturing people’s likeness and creating exaggerated characters and humorous illustrations through feature enhancement.

Be inspired by this exciting art medium. Learn various sculptural techniques and strategies and let your creative talents run wild as you have fun creating a kinetic sculpture, a three-dimensional self-portrait sculpture from cardboard and a recycled materials sculpture.

Moviemaking with Claymation

Lights, camera, action! You’re the producer! Enjoy designing and developing your own movie using clay characters and stop motion photography. Start with the storyboard and end with a CD. You will take home a CD of the movie you completed.

Co-Ed Basketball

Want to be better than your friends at basketball? Start practicing now. Improve your dribbling, passing, and shooting skills as you learn offensive and defensive strategies. Tennis shoes are required.

Co-Ed Flag Football and Field Games

Get out in the fresh air, get some great exercise and release all that extra energy! Participate in flag football and other fun field games that promote team cooperation and good sportsmanship.

Co-Ed Soccer

Enjoy the world’s most popular sport as you develop and improve your soccer talent. Acquire game skills and get fit while having fun. Shin guards are required.

Co-Ed Volleyball

Learn the rules of volleyball, bump passes, setting, serving, rallying, scorekeeping, rotations and conditioning in a fun, game-oriented program. Once you master the skills, you will play in an exciting mini-tournament. Non-marking sneakers are required. Kneepads are recommended.

Indoor Badminton

Join this fun and latest sports craze. Learn the fundamentals of badminton, basic strokes and footwork, court play rules and strategies and improve your game skills.

Self Defense

Join us in this great physical education class that teaches self defense skills, respect, self-control and discipline. Learn blocks, strikes, kicks and simple self-defense techniques. Boost your self-confidence and benefit from the fun physical exercise!

Tennis Anyone?

Want to learn how to play and enjoy this strategic game? Learn and practice the proper forehand and backhand techniques, footwork, serving, volley, the rules of the game, and proper footwork. Please bring a tennis racket and a can of tennis balls to class and wear appropriate athletic shoes.
