General CIS Transfer Program

Many career opportunities in Computer and Information Science require a B.S. or advanced degree. Students can fulfill lower division General Education and major requirements at College of San Mateo. Major requirements vary from institution to institution, and students are advised to consult the catalog of the college or university to which they plan to transfer for proper selection of courses to prepare for the major. CSM has major preparation agreements for many universities in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Computer Information Systems.

A.S. Degree Requirements
To earn the Associate Degree in CIS with the Transfer Program students must complete the General Education requirements for CSM and the courses listed below, for a total of at least 60 units.

Math Requirements (10 Units)

English Requirements (3 Units)

Computer and Information Science Requirements (18 Units)
[CIS 250/251] Programming Methods I and Lab (C++) OR

[CIS 252/253] Programming Methods II and Lab (C++) OR
[CIS 286/287] Programming Methods II and Lab (Java).
[CIS 290/291] Computer Architecture and Lab
Plus 4 Units Selected from CIS courses numbered higher than CIS 110 (CIS 118/119 is recommended)
Plus 3 Units Selected from MATH courses more advanced than MATH 251 (MATH 268 is recommended)
